PROGRAM NOTE

​

These four studies are designed to explore the piano’s inability to sustain. Note-on and note-off values are treated with equal importance. While structurally significant, they are at odds with the mechanics of the instrument. The impossibility of live performance is due to the precision with which rhythms are to be executed.
